I have always loved trains, much more so in my childhood than now, but still quite a bit. I had this book in elementary school, but my parents lost it, so almost ten years later I had to buy a new one. I still really like this book. It's a relatively concise history and technical explanation of railroads and locomotives, readable even to those with little or no engineering knowledge, like me. It includes stories, technical data on engines (maximum speed, horsepower, years of use, etc.) and some beautiful illustrations.
