"interesting, well-written and insightful.”--David H. Riskind, Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept., Austin

"What an amazing story!" according to Shirley D. Cohen. I was so impressed by J.David Bamberger's compelling story! People like him--hard working, resourceful, personable, inspirational--are such a rarity these days. He has done some amazing environmental work, and has cared enough to share what he has learned with others. The strikingly beautiful illustrations in this book, done by his wife, Margaret, have a simple, timeless quality.. Don't Waste Your Time Fairly well written, too much about subject's prior life & not enoughabout the Blanco County land restoration, a little interesting info onthe primary subject & a whole lot about his past life, careers, businesssuccess, eco-nuts, and doing things the hard way at great expense. Fora similar & far better book, read Flat Top, about the reclamation ofFlat Top Ranch in Bosque County wit. The Goose said Too Much, Too Little. I bought the book to learn more about the actual ranch. I got too much Bamberger, too little Selah. The title of the book led me to believe that it would be mostly about the ranch and the actual restoration details. Living near the ranch, I also found some of the details to be inaccurate.I do agree with Bamberger's premise that there is very little the government can do to protect

His mother taught him to love the natural world and gave him a book that would set the course for his life: Pleasant Valley, by Louis Bromfield, a visionary American advocate for land restoration. In fact, Greene tells two integrally related stories: the evolution of one man’s business sense, applying profit incentives to land restoration and
