Very helpful for all A great buy. This book has so many new ideas and techniques. I especially like the coverage on ripping the strips. It's clear to see that taking the time to make well made strips really saves a lot of time and effort overall. I was surprised how easy it is to create patterns using different colors of wood to make dotted line strips. I highly recommend this book for anyone that is considering building a canoe. The extensive pictures and illustrations cover every aspect so even. "One trick pony" according to Jerome C. Ebensperger. The rope clamp technique for stapleless construction is the only thing in this bok that doesn't seem to have come directly from Building the Strip Canoe by Gil Gilpatrick (much of this book reads like it came out of Gil's writing) or Canoecraft by Ted Mohr. Both of them provide clearer instructions and photos than you'll find here. They provide greater value with more plans documented, too. Canoecraft also provides instructions for stapleless construction if that's the route . great reference I purchased this book mainly for its sections on fiber glassing and finishing. It was the first time I had ever fiber glassed something, and this book has been an invaluable resource for step by step instructions as well as what tools to purchase. I did however purchase my fiberglass and resin from a different company than recommended in the book, because I was able to find better pricing.
