This is not what it claims to be Strv 74 I was really looking forward to this book. I have a number of Railroad books but what was needed was an encyclopedia that you could use to look up facts etc. When Amazon listed this one by Brian Solomon my hopes were high. Brian Solomon has written a number of excellent books so maybe this one would be the one topping them all?Unfortunately this is sadly not so. "North American Railroads The illustrat. I truly wanted to love this book, and it would probably be fine for someone who just wants a taste of information about the various North American railroads. But for a serious railroad enthusiast, it falls short. For example, there is a "factoid" section for each railroad, but inexplicably there is no consistency in the types of information presented. For some historic railroads it lists passenger tra. Good background book J Railman Easy reading - cover a lot of railroads so not as much depth on each one. But that's ok if you just have a general interest. Some of the small railroads are barely mentioned. Does help show railroad lineages. If you want deeper reference materials on a specific railroad, you will want a road specific book.
