Good course book, but needs to consider updates A. Gabel Had to have this book for a graduate level radar class. Overall, the book isn't bad, but could use some updating. With upgrades being done with radars, there are new theories and techniques that are being used that I would liked to have gained from this book.. Donald M. McPherson said classic must read for the weathr radar enthusiast. Classic text by the biggest names in the business. A must read if you are serious about working in the weather radar area. Well written with lots of data.. Jonathan said Four Stars. Well worth the purchase
Radar images and photographs of these weather phenomena are included. This book reviews the principles of Doppler radar and emphasizes the quantitative measurement of meteorological parameters. It illustrates the relation of Doppler radar data and images to atmospherix phenomena such as tornados, microbursts, waves, turbulence, density currents, hurricanes, and lightning. Key Features* The Second Edition of Doviak and Zrnic's classic text has been expanded to include:* Polarimetric measurements and data processing* An updated section on RASS* Wind profilers* Observations with the WSR-88D* An updated treatment of lightning* Turbulence in the planetary boundary la
