DESCRIPTION:
Pat Dorin has compiled another nice C&NW book, this one dealing with a general overview of the line's freight trains and cars over the years, with concentration from the 1930s to modern times. This book is rich with great illustrations showing steam and diesel locomotives, cars of all types, and information about how the trains were operated, as well as excellent train photos. The book should be ideal for any C&NW fan or modeler interested in this road or in freight trains and equipment in general.

Chicago and Northwestern Freight Trains and Equipment A good book covering postwar to UP merger C&NW freight service. Heavy emphasis on the Overland Route train symbols and numbers. Nice sections on TOFC, ore service and coal trains. The ore service chapter includes some information on docks at Ashland and Escanaba. Too few photos of equipment. Only a small smattering from each type. A car roster would have been a good addition.. "Great book for husbands B-Day!" according to regalmamma. I know my husband will love this book when he receives it on his B-Day. He likes anything that's Chicago & Northwestern, being a former employee.. Great for CNN fans Taych Very helpful in planning Locomotion and rolling stock for a new layout
