This book is one of the main reasons that the personal essay is currently ascendant, and I can't recommend it highly enough.. A Must Read This was an exquisitely written book, so delicate, a language of lace, dealing with harsher threads. I felt as if my hand or someone's hand fit into a perfect kid glove, and that the reader feels the excellence of the work, all the while diving deeply into her story. She handled some intimicacies, not as a "lay it out on the table and let's see what we've got," but rather a silken elegance wrapped around pain. I loved it so, I tracked her down and wrote an email thanking her and shouting praises. Her language is exquisitely poetic, and yet it is the marrow of life she brings to the pages..
