Airfix has been at the forefront of the model industry since 1955 when the first Airfix aircraft kit appeared in UK branches of Woolworth's. In 2006, Hornby Hobbies Ltd, the train and Scalextric manufacturer, bought the ailing company and transformed it. For the next twenty-five years Airfix was run by Palitoy and later Humbrol, but suffered from a lack of investment. Money and resources were ploughed into the range, and today Airfix releases around twenty new kits per year, designed to an incredibly high standard. The kits were made to a constant scale and covered a wide variety of subjects, from aircraft to birds and from tanks to dinosaurs. If you grew up with Airfix then you want this book Just received this morning and spent the last couple of hours with the book. Very good look into the history and complexities of running one of the iconic pioneers of plastic model kits as it went through various troubles and tribulations in ownership. The illustrations will warm the heart of anyone who made these kits as a child while the writing is in depth and covers as much detail. nice book I think that Brook did a good job in his book. The only reason why I could not give it a five was the type and style of writing. I have most of the airfix books in print and a few not in print. The history is right and the flow is decent.
