david k said exciting reading of what texas was like around 1875-1880. if you want to relive texas history, this is definately one of those books. the author had an incredible life of adventure and heroism in the wild days of post civil war texas. exciting reading of what texas was like around 1875-1880.. Enjoyed this read very much indeed Enjoyed this read very much indeed! Wonderful insight to time gone by. Easily worth the money spent on it. Should be read alongside "9 Years Among The Indians, as the two go hand-in-hand.. Back In Time This was a great book to read. Gillett really took you back to a time when things were simpler but still filled with dangers. I thought he gave a good account of the times.
