DESCRIPTION:

This update of Marshall Parker’s classic text contains the latest “hands-on information for taking measurements and making the calculations necessary for cathodic protection of buried pipe lines. The contents cover soil resistivity surveys, potential surveys, line currents, current requirement surveys, rectifier systems for coated lines, ground bed design and installation, galvanic anodes on coated lines, hot spot protection, bond protection, stray current electrolysis, interference, operation and maintenance, and coating inspection and testing. There are also helpful appendixes that explain the fundamentals of underground corrosion, basic principles of cathodic protection, tables of properties of metals, and attenuation equations. While other books on corrosion are sometimes too theoretical for practical work, Pipe Line Corrosion and Cathodic Protection, Third Edition, shows you how to take actual field measurements and apply them to design a well-protected system.. Essentially a practical field manual for corrosi

S. Sinclair said Pretty good. I have to differ with the other two reviews. This is a very good reference. The concepts of resistivity, current, and field testing are timeless even if some of the referenced equipment has been replaced by newer devices. The concepts presented here are the most important thing. The diagrams and charts are great. They obviously came from somebody with a lot of pr. Ken Khinh Ho said Outdated and too short. Book is small paperback and short. Good reference for its time, but not worth $70 I paid for it. This book is outdated. Its talking about analog meters and digital transitor based multimeters as the newest thing. Has good info on design of cp systems and troubshooting interference. I wouldn't trust any of the info on electronic instruments presented in the book

Edward G. His degrees are in chemistry and chemical engineering from Ohio University, the University of Michigan, and Temple University, and he is a member of the SPE of AIME, NACE, NSPE, ACS, AIChE, ASM, and AAAS. Parker studied mathematics and physics and held degrees from Sam Houston State Teachers College and Rice University. He was also active in the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, where he served on several technical committees and taught short courses. He began his engineering studies with Houston Light and Power Co. Peattie is also a registered professional engineer in the state of Ohio, and is now a consulting engineer in Florida. Peattie is also a registered professional engineer in the state of Ohio, and is now a consulting engineer in Florida. Peattie has held positions in the energy industries, both in the U.S. The late Marshall Parker was one of the world's foremost experts when it came to solutions to problems of pipe line corrosion and cathodic protec
