"A must read" according to Ann Hubler. Humbled by the Gift of life is a truly inspiring read that emphasizes the importance of faith, family and friends (the three F's). A must read regarding organ donation. It is very well written and one of the best books I have read this year. Organ donation is a gift of life and this book is a gift for us.. Life at level 8!!! Matt Minor Diane Tefft Young has written one amazing little book that should not be missed by anyone - a story of life at level 8 if there ever was one.
ForeWord Clarion Review:Five Stars (out of Five)Diane Tefft Young’s new memoir, Humbled by the Gift of Life: Reflections on Receiving a Lung Transplant, should be required reading for every adult facing the prospect of an organ transplant, either as a recipient or a donor. . Humbled by the Gift of Life offers a well-written, easy-to-understand account of one person’s journey through a serious illness and the medical procedure best suited to treat it. Young’s words will bring comfort to many and perhaps inspire others to consider “the gift of life” that is organ donation. Instead of focusing on medical details, she speaks of the emotional and spiritual strengths she developed, fine-tuned, and relied upon in order to face her ill
The author's life is traced forward to her life-saving transplant on 10-10-10. While her disease progression is the thrust of the tale, the significant role of family anf friends, the author's emerging spirituality and accompanying raw emotions are woven throughout. This inspiring memoir begins in 2005 with a confirmation diagnosis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis at Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. This story of hope, faith, trust, determination, and finally unending gratitude, is also inspirational to anyone facing a challenge to their health and quality of life.
