Were there a book like this in the same cost range for US Mariners and for US GMDSS Operator/Maintainers, life would be good. Unfortunately, Lees' book is centered about GMDSS and associated systems for use in the British Isles. And yes, there is a difference--especially if one is studying to take FCC Elements 7 and 9--which makes this book a big disappointment. On the other hand, if you are a British Lincensee or are studying to become one--or if you are looking for the one useful reference to keep on your British licensed vessel operating in sea areas A1 a.
