DESCRIPTION:

Who doesn’t love a story filled with humor, tragedy, and sarcastic flair, all narrated by a charmingly flawed protagonist? Fat Chances opens on the day of my surgery, February 18, 2008 and winds its way through the phases of pre-operative preparation, recovery, and the complexities of my post-surgical “afterlife.” Woven in between are a variety of humorous and sometimes embarrassing memories from key moments in my life that led me to gastric bypass surgery. At first, I didn't know if I was going to be able to relate to the subject matter because I have never been overweight myself. But, as I kept reading it unfolded into a story that wasn't just about obesity and weight loss surgery. This book confronts you with topics that we can relate too and topics that we try to avoid. It touches on self image, insecurities, failures, decision making, hope, love, the value of family a
