Prepare to be dazzled Charles Decker Since there are several plot summaries here, I am merely going to say that this is the most enjoyable book I have read since 'The Goldfinch.' I completely devoured it in about five sittings. The narrative sweep is dizzying and the characters indelible. This is an urban hymn with characters whose experiences are relatable whether or not you've ever been to New York City or LA, done poppers in a nightclub in the 1980s, gone through rehab or to a therapist, or experienced depression. I really appreciated how much this book served to fill in a gap in my knowledge and memory of the heroic response of gay and lesbian activists to the AIDS crisis (at the same time the local and federal governments' .
