Bruce is a superb historical biography with sufficient detail to understand the development of the telephone, the character of those associated with Alexander Graham Bell, and the era in which this absolutely compelling American saga takes place. I would rate this book in the top 10 of all the biographies that I have read (well over 200). This author's prose and story telling ability are second to none. His insights and balance do great justice to one of the most prominent figures of the 19th century. Well worth the trouble of finding a copy.
