DESCRIPTION:
Molly Malloy said Surprising. What a charming book. It's not at all what I expected, but has characters who'd be right at home in the LOTR trilogy with one difference -- they're gay and their fellow elves and vampires and pookas and the like despise them for that. There's Ralph (pronounced "Rafe" like the Welsh do it) who even in his human guise isn't all that pretty. No glamourous vampire, here, boy -. "Nothing erotic here, just enjoyable" according to Kyle Michel Sullivan. Interesting. This book is about a gay vampire who wasn't always good but is trying to be, a gay elf prince just wanting to be himself in high heels, a gay troll/wolf/dog creature called a "redcap" who's trying to prove his love to a human (in all the wrong ways) and a gay horse-pooka who's a hustler for the S&M crowd. This is about as disparate a group as you can imagine,
Whether confronting bashers, solving a severe social misunderstanding or confronting genuine evil, the key is knowing who you can trust.. Life for the Kin isn't much different from ours, and it's just as hard when you're gay and fey. The citizens of Faerie are alive and well and living in our cities
