DESCRIPTION:

"To Whom It May Concern: a memoir of a foster child" according to Julie W. Spence. What a heartbreaking memory of a young girl's life!Anyone who grew up in a small town should read this. I grew up in the same small town but was never aware of any of this. I hope that the state and county systems have drastically improved since then!Thank you for writing about your life experiences as a child in the foster care system.. An absolute"must read" ! ggkaren I must begin by saying that I am personally acquainted with the author as well as some of her family. I bought this book with the intention of reading it sometime during the summer. I however, made the mistake of "just taking a peek". I was hooked and could not put this book down. It is so well written and the story is so heart breaking as well as heart warming. I am indeed appal. S. Kast said Laughed some and cried a lot.. When I read the book, I was not prepared for the raw emotions that overwhelmed me. I could picture how that little girl's life was through her words. I think this is a book that strengthens a person's soul after reading it and makes a person question if things are better now than when the author was a child.

Mom has also made me feel loved and special, given me a sense of humor and made me feel like a beautiful person." With a warm conversational tone, Laurie Kast-Klein describes her tumultuous childhood and the lack of care demonstrated by the Michigan foster care system. Her story is heartfelt and heartbreaking, but her words will inspire you. She has abandoned me, broken my heart, lied about me and given me cold, deadly glares that made me think she wished I were dead. Laurie Kast-Klein has been involved in advocacy for abused women and children, and she currently lives with her family in Michigan.. From the loving atmosphere of her grandparents' home to a variety of abusive foster care homes, Laurie has survived and ultimately flourished
