Thank you for let us know what it is beyond words Jacopo M. Grassi My passion for the Luftwaffe: I usually get carried away by these books/monographies whose pages are historical pieces of a world puzzle. And everything around the Me262 was something left "undone".then came Wolf Czaia! The rest is history.. Great documentation on the new and the old Me262 Galand Very interesting and well written book. Splendid photography and "insider" description of the technical challenges. Only regret is that there was no explanation on how they overcame the bothersome and mysterious right aileron high speed problem.. "Well written pilot notes on test flying the two replicas" according to Southernpilot. Well written pilot notes on test flying the two replicas. DVD included in back of book that shows test flying with runway excursion. This holiday I found three at three different used book stores in Houston.

Jim Larsen, one of the best aviation photographers in the world, is responsible for the truly breathtaking pictures that complement the text. The Messerschmitt Me 262 is considered the forerunner of all military jets and countless civil developments. But nothing could deter the small band of highly qualified specialists who had devoted themselves to the project body and soul. Time and again the ambitious undertaking seemed about to founder - on financial, technical and bureaucratic hurdles, upon the crash landing of the first aircraft to be completed. Never before has a warbird project of this kind been documented in such an authentic, informative and aesthetic way: a first-hand account of the development, construction and test-flying of the new Me 262.. They are either rotting away or enshrined as lifeless museum exhibits. He is Wolf Czaia, the Me 262 project's test pilot. And in the end triumph was theirs. But since 1992 five flying replicas, true in almost every detail to the original weapons system that first allowed man to stand on the threshold of the sound barrier, have been produced in the USA. Now one of them tells the whole story in a superb full-color illustrated book. Together, the end result sets new standards in aviation literature. Of those machines produced up to 1945 scarcely a handful remain
