Rosanne Calabrese said Great for students!. This is an awesome quick reference book for students of TCM. I used it when studying single herbs and it is even more helpful when studying formulas. It is perfect for the student who really wants to learn about the specific role each individual herb takes in a formula.. Very concise and helpful book for studying Chinese herbs! Very concise and helpful book for studying Chinese herbs! 4.5 Stars G. Busher I was surprised to receive such a small book and became doubtfulbecause of my impression. How mistaken I was, and how silly tothink this way, but I am used to the big, heavy texts. Finally, I took it with me to Chinese herb class and was amazedbecause 'almost' everything my instructor, Dr. Lu, was teaching wasessentially backed up in the "Pocket Handbook." I showed this bookto Dr. Lu and he knows the author!A few herbs are missing from this text but otherwise the handbook is thoroughand complete with contraindications. It would be extra helpful if the Latin herb namewas also included. Very easy to carry around and not much weight.
