I bought this book despite the poor review because having a Kindle offers one instant gratification where the review would have put me off ordering the hard copy and waiting for its arrival. I should have shown the restraintIt's not that the book is bad - it's just not very good. The partners are former police officers who are madly in love with each other after a decade or so. They're main complaint is being apart from the other for any length of time. Yet, the passion between the two seems forced. These two are ready to go at it at the drop of a hat, but the book does not convey a believable level of passion between them.And the "mystery" i. "don't bother buying this one" according to jdarc. I had a hard time getting into this novel. Everything was too "perfect". The main characters live together, work together, do everything together and yet never quarrel? Oh, please! The writing style was unsophisticated and somewhat elementary. There was no romance, just sex. Was this book written by a man? I want to be seduced - what woman doesn't? The mystery surrounding the victim seemed transparent - to me anyway. Normally, when I start a book, I cannot put it down until I have finished it.
