Insights and Anger I've always wondered about the Jewish Confederate Attorney General and Secretary of War. This history of Judah Benjamin not only breathes life into this enigmatic historical figure, but also indicates the rampant anti-Semitism of the times. As a Jew, it is difficult to understand how Benjamin and other wealthy Jewish Southerners of the era were slave owners.
