It gives children the platform to understand that many families have different members that make up what a family is to them.. Great new edition resolves many issues This new edition (2015, with illustrations by Laura Cornell) is a big improvement. It's much more attractive--with zippy color illustrations--and the content is more focused. Eliminating the details about how her moms met and got artificially inseminated, this new edition simply makes the point that families come in all shapes and varieties--the important thing is love. Since the story offers examples of her classmates' families, it could actually be useful for lots of different family configurations.
